Renovation of Main House and & 100-Year Old Guest Cottage

Project Description

Because the main house is grandfathered in its oceanfront location, the footprint of the home could not change. However, the interior required significant updating to better fit the needs of the new homeowners. Downeast Homes installed all new windows to take advantage of the incredible views including a series of windows spanning 16 feet in the living room. The kitchen in the main house was completely redone with new cabinets, countertops, appliances, flooring. The main living space and the family room that walks out to the beach received new flooring as well. Bathroom spaces were updated and enlarged by using space taken from closets.

The guest house / cabin also required a full kitchen and bathroom remodel as well as sanding and refinishing floors, new windows and painting. The original charm of the guest cottage remains but it has been modernized to make it a thoroughly enjoyable space.

"...Jay is calm, patient and thorough—the quintessential professional. His crew is meticulous. We were both pleased and impressed with the skill and dedication of every team member who worked on our project. And yes, all of this was happening while we were living 1500 miles away. Downeast Homes went above and beyond in every way. We had complete trust and confidence in their work and recommend them very highly. We give them an A+."
